H68 is a stationary-based seal with the spring located in the stationary. The metal cap is press-fitted (tool recommended) into the pump housing, while the cup-mounted part is fitted into the back of the rotating impeller.

 

The tolerance fit acts as secondary seal, eliminating the need for a shaft-sealing element. Commonly specified in high-speed applications where shaft surface finish & deflection is non-critical.

 

Available in two standards. Imperial dimensions based on industry standard "Type 6A" design. Metric dimensions based on Japanese "Type 7", common in automotive water pumps.
