ABS was started by Albert Bloom in Scheiderhohe, (ABS) Germany in 1957 focusing on development of submersible sewage pumps. ABS Pumpen was acquired in 1990 by Cardo Pump and renamed ABS-Scanpump. In 2011 it was acquired by Sulzer, which integrated the ABS brand into its product range.
